Tarvin man, Dan Edwards, a multiple SuperKart Grand Prix winner was seriously injured racing his super kart in 2017 at Ashbourne in Derbyshire.
Dan, a former British number one, suffered damage to both his legs as well as a broken wrist. Dan was suffering from compartment syndrome in his right leg (when there’s a large amount of pressure on the muscle tissue, blood vessels and nerves) and having to rely on a mobility scooter to get around. This led to the decision to have the lower part of one of his legs amputated in July. We follow him on Twitter (as a kart racer)…and are constantly amazed at the positivity and determination with which he has faced the numerous operations that he has had and the medical complications that have arisen. When we saw one of his tweets “saying goodbye” to his lower leg….posting a photo of both of his legs with the caption “last night together as a couple” we made contact with his family to see if there was anything at all we could help with…for us, we KNOW that helping Dan in any way would have been the reason George would have set up the Foundation.
