Following the amazing runs in 2017 by our team of dragonflies, this year our team was even bigger!
This year we had ten runners in the event… Chloe and Caroline Evans, Robbie Plank, George Conway, Krista Jones, Lisa Cheers, Rachel Meredith, Will Armstrong, Sam Gibson and Sam O’Connor.
Our runners experience varied from those who had never run before to those who are very experienced and were aiming to beat their own personal best!
Every runner did a fantastic job…
Chloe 1:58:37, Caroline 2:03:22, Robbie 2:15:07, George 1:59:30, Krista 1:59:46. Lisa 2:20:42, Rachel (so fast the transponder didn’t pick her up!) Will 1:46:24, Sam G 2:12:15, Sam O 1:45:28.
…and across the ten runners £2,375 was raised for The Foundation!
A number of runners’ places were funded by John Gartland of Cleaning for Causes…John’s company sets aside 10% of its profits to fund charity fundraisers entry fees with the aim being for each entrant to raise £200 for their nominated charity (and in this case over £10,000 was raised for numerous local charities!)
John made the half marathon an extra special event….not only did he complete the 13.1 miles pushing his disabled brother Peter to raise money for BIRD (The Centre for Brain Injury Rehabilitation & Development in Eccleston just outside Chester)…..he also took time out as he passed the GHF cheerpoint at The Bouverie to propose to his (now) fiancee Amy….very pleased to report that she said YES!
John is currently inviting expressions of interest from (up to) 75 runners who aim to complete next year’s Chester 10K (being run on 10th March). The aim of The George Heath Foundation and Cleaning for Causes is to raise £15,000 for homelessness charities in Chester.
