In the same way that the school karting team stuck together during those racing weekends, so the team have supported The George Heath Foundation and our efforts to support our local area and “George’s network”.
Tom Oliphant is in the process of completing his debut year in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship driving for Ciceley Motorsport e-Jigsaw Mercedes (having spent successful years first becoming the Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup Champion, and subsequently Porsche Carrera Cup GB championship). Tom made his first return to Oulton Park as part of the BTCC over the weekend of 09/10 June and was determined to make time for some fund and profile raising for The George Heath Foundation.
Tom Oliphant: “It’s been a mixed weekend [on the racetrack] that started with a really positive day on Saturday, where we had great pace in the car from the off. It was fantastic to qualify in the top ten once again and to have a better qualifying record than my team-mate at this stage is a welcome surprise”. Tom competed at Oulton Park in support of The George Heath Foundation. Together, they ran a raffle over the race meeting which saw three pairs of fans win the chance to go on the grid before race three, as well as a signed BTCC t-shirt.
Tom Oliphant: “I was very proud to get the chance to bring The George Heath Foundation to Oulton Park and give them the opportunity to raise awareness of the charity to the tens of thousands of fans at the circuit across the race weekend. The raffle was a huge success and we were delighted to help them raise over £500. That capped off a fantastic week, having also been able to go back to my old school and show off my BTCC car. It certainly got lots of attention and it was great to speak to so many passionate motorsport fans.”
